Medical Director - Primary Care

Regional Medical Director, Primary Care Position Summary:
  • Role: Regional Medical Director, Primary Care
  • Location: Based in Bristol, CT 
  • Scope: 50% Leadership Administration, 50% office-based, outpatient Primary Care
  • Schedule: Full-time
  • Teaching: Optional with faculty appointment
  • Phone Call Only: averages only 2 call weekends per year and 1-weeknight ~ 2 months
  • Offerings: Guaranteed base, Executive incentive plan, Loan repayment support, Sign-on bonus, Relocation
 
Role Details for the Regional Medical Director, Primary Care Position
  • Work closely with the Regional Operations Directors, Regional APP Leads, and Practice Managers in oversight of the clinical operations in the Primary Care practices within a defined Region
  •  Work with senior leaders to develop Primary Care strategy and translate that into effective operations to meet the goals of the organization and system. 
  •  Responsible for oversight, administration and management of physician and APP provider staff.
  •  Responsible for quality monitoring and improvement and standardization efforts, using the tools and infrastructure available including key data dashboards. 
  •  Responsible for hiring new provider colleagues, as well as overseeing orientation and onboarding activities for all new hires.

Qualifications


Requirements:
  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut medical license (or eligible)
  • BC Internal or Family Medicine
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience as well as medical administrative and leadership experience in primary care or multispecialty group
  • Considered a clinical expert in your field of practice
  • Exceptional communicator with a proven ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels, including executive presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong and strategic business relationships
  • Possesses exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, thriving even when faced with limited information or ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced working environment
  • Skilled in navigating difficult conversations with clinical colleagues, if needed
  • Strong financial acumen, proven ability to connect the linkages of the project results to the financial and business benefits
 
Preferred:
  • BC Family Medicine
  • Experience and interest in academics/teaching
